UK Flu Vaccine Eligibility & Dates (2026/2027 Season)

The NHS flu vaccination programme is rolling out in two phases to protect those most at risk before winter arrives.
 
📅 Phase 1: From 1 September 2026
Vaccinations open for children and pregnant women to help stop the virus spreading early.
  • Pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
  • Children aged 2 or 3 years old (on 31 August 2026)
  • Children aged 6 months to 17 years with underlying health conditions
📅 Phase 2: From 1 October 2026
Vaccinations expand to include older adults, at-risk adults, and care workers.
  • Adults aged 65 and over (including those who turn 65 by 31 March 2027)
  • Adults aged 18 to 64 with underlying health conditions (such as diabetes, heart disease, or a weakened immune system)
  • Residents of care homes for older adults
  • Main carers for an elderly or disabled person
  • Close contacts of anyone who is severely immunocompromised
